Dizer que o trio baiano instrumental Retrofoguetes faz surf music somente é não enxergar que há muito Morotó Slim (guitarra), Rex (bateria) e CH (baixo) ampliaram seu conceito musical. O estilo ainda figura como a base de tudo o que fazem, até pela atitude da banda formada em 2002. Mas, hoje, com cada vez mais identidade, eles têm mesclado outras referências aos temas que compõem. Além dos já tradicionais rockabilly, polca e música circense, abriram mais espaço no repertório para elementos de mambo, tango, música italiana e swing jazz. Some a isso ainda uma ambientação na literatura, cinema e HQs de ficção científica. O resultado é música pop bem-humorada e extremamente visual, como na trilha sonora de um filme imaginário.

The genre is still the basis to everything they do, especially do to the attitude of the band formed in 2002. Today, though, with even more identity, they have added other references to the themes they write. Aside from the already traditional rockabilly, polka and circus music, they opened their repertoire for elements of styles such as mambo, tango, Italian music and swing jazz. Add, on top of it all, ambience based on sci-fi literature, cinema and comics. The result is humorous and extremely visual pop music, as in the soundtrack to an imaginary film.
