Com este tema, o IX Mercado Cultural se envereda pelos caminhos do interior da Bahia, contemplando cidades do Médio Rio das Contas. No percurso desenvolvido na região, com destaque aos processos que incluem jovens e crianças, tem sido surpreendente o encontro com manifestações populares, como reisados, sambas de roda, bumbas meu-boi, entre várias outras. Desde então, o desejo de fomentar o intercâmbio entre a produção cultural mundial e os movimentos culturais locais foi se estabelecendo.

O tema “...Passagem...” provoca uma abertura do entendimento sobre os processos identitários de uma região, promovendo a noção de que é preciso considerar não apenas o impacto das raízes históricas, mas também as formas de
leitura e re-uso que o presente desencadeia em relação às heranças. Assim, o IX Mercado Cultural está pautado na convicção de que é preciso estar aberto para valorizar o esforço coletivo popular e suas tradições, mas de que também é necessário reconhecer a eficácia de padrões culturais inovadores.

Deste modo, busca valorizar a percepção de que os textos identitários que atravessam nossos corpos e mentes produzem significações ao longo das interações com outras pessoas, grupos e sociedades, não podendo ser fixados em apenas um eixo, mas ganhando sentido justamente na passagem de um eixo a outro. Será um momento de conexão de ideias e intercâmbios artísticos, de estabelecer pontes entre tradições e inovações, entre o local e o global, constituindo um espaço agregador, dialogante, polemizador e estimulante.

With this theme, the IX Mercado Cultural throws itself through paths to Bahia’s countryside, contemplating cities from the Médio Rio das Contas. Through the journey taken throughout the region, with processes including youngsters and children as highlights, meeting with popular manifestations such as reisados, sambas de roda, bumbas-meu-boi, among others, has been surprising. Since then, the desire to foster the exchanges between worldwide cultural productions and local cultural movements has been established.

The theme “…Passage…” causes an opening to the understanding of the identity processes of a region, promoting the concept that it is necessary to consider not only the impact of historic roots, but also the ways of reading and reusing that the present generates when regarding heritage. Therefore, the IX Mercado Cultural firmly believes that it is essential to be receptive to value popular collective efforts and their traditions, but that it is also crucial to recognize the efficiency of innovative cultural patterns.

This way, it seeks valuing the perception that the identity texts which cross our bodies and minds produce meanings throughout the interaction with other people,
groups and societies, not being able to be fixed on only one axis, but making sense exactly when passing from one axis to another. It will be a moment of connection of ideas and artistic exchanges, of establishing bridges between tradition and innovation, between local and global, building an aggregator, dialogue and thought
provoking space.
